46-residue all-D retro-inverso peptide designed against the FOXO4–p53 interaction

FOXO4-DRI is a designed peptide of 46 residues made entirely of D-amino acids in reversed order, a D-retro-inverso construct. It was built to interfere with the binding of the transcription factor FOXO4 to p53, and its C-terminal cationic stretch is the basic region of HIV-TAT read backwards, which takes the peptide into cells. The complete sequence is in the fact table. On pepoderma it belongs to the ageing-biology compounds of the skin and ageing topic, next to Epithalon and SS-31, because its literature concerns senescent cells.
