Mitochondrial-derived peptide of 16 residues, encoded within the 12S rRNA gene
Research topic: Body & metabolism · group: Lipid metabolism and auxiliaries
MOTS-c is a peptide of sixteen residues, MRWQEMGYIFYPRKLR, read from a short open reading frame inside the mitochondrial gene for 12S ribosomal RNA. Its C-terminal arginine ends in a free carboxylic acid and there is no disulfide bond; a C-terminal amide would be a different material with its own formula. On this site it belongs to the auxiliary materials of the body-composition and metabolic page, next to AICAR, a nucleoside that also figures in its founding paper. Both studies in our product data are cell and mouse work: the paper that named the peptide, and a later one that followed it into the nucleus under metabolic stress. Humanin, another mitochondrial-derived peptide, is listed under skin and ageing.
Besides the vials, MOTS-c is bottled as a nasal spray, held in stock in the United States and shipped from there.

The COA of every lot of MOTS-c reports:
Ask for the COA of the batch you are quoted; the batch number on it is the batch we ship.

What to put in your quote request
With these facts the first reply can carry the unit price per kit, shipping and lead time.
The free acid. The last residue, arginine, carries a carboxylic acid, and the formula, mass and CAS in the fact table refer to that form. The amide would have a different formula and is not this product.
To the sequence encoded in the human mitochondrial genome, as recorded in UniProt. CB4211, a synthetic analogue developed separately, is a different molecule and is not supplied under this name.
They are different compounds — MOTS-c is a peptide, AICAR a nucleoside. They are listed side by side because AICAR appears in the founding MOTS-c paper; each has its own page, codes and COA.
One kit is 10 vials of the same product at the same strength. Each vial holds the stated amount, for example 10 mg of lyophilized peptide; the few solutions are stated per vial in mg or ml. 1 kit per product and strength. One order can combine several products and strengths, each from 1 kit.
HPLC purity, MS identity, endotoxin and fill, on the COA of every lot of a stocked peptide. The COA carries the lot number, so you can match it to the vials you receive. Yes. Ask for the COA of the batch you are quoted; the batch number on that COA is the batch we ship.
In writing, per request. Prices are tiered by the number of kits of each peptide and strength; the quotation gives the unit price per kit, the shipping cost and the lead time. We reply within 24 hours.
Because listings describe different forms: a free peptide or a salt (acetate, TFA), a copper complex or its free peptide, one peptide or a two-peptide material — and some registries keep older numbers. Each product page says which form its values refer to; the COA of the lot is the reference.
