Overview

PTD-DBM is a designed peptide of 25 residues built from three parts: eight arginines that carry it into cells (a protein transduction domain), four glycines as a linker, and a 13-residue Dishevelled-binding motif. It was made to compete with the protein CXXC5 for binding to Dishevelled, one of the steps of Wnt/β-catenin signalling. Both cysteines are free thiols; the full sequence is in the fact table. It is the dedicated peptide of our hair research page: the papers in our product data examine CXXC5 and Wnt/β-catenin signalling in skin wounds, in hair follicles of mouse models and in human dermal papilla cells. It has not been approved as a medicine.

The octa-arginine is a protein transduction domain: in the design paper it carries the Dishevelled-binding motif into cells. The four glycines keep the two parts apart.

Is PTD-DBM supplied with a disulfide bond?

No. Our product table records both cysteines as free thiols, without a disulfide bond; the formula and molecular weight in the fact table refer to that reduced form.
