Ac-LKKTETQ: residues 17–23 of thymosin β4 with an acetylated N-terminus

This heptapeptide, Ac-LKKTETQ, copies positions 17 to 23 of thymosin β4, the central actin-binding stretch of the 43-residue parent. The sequence is natural, but the acetyl on leucine 17 is not: inside the parent protein that residue is internal and unmodified. Without the acetyl the chain is a separately registered substance, so the fact table describes the acetylated form only. Its literature began in doping control, where products sold under the name TB-500 were found to contain this fragment; for that reason we list it under its own name, apart from full-length thymosin β4.
